Hyderabad, March 3 (RAHNUMA): Telangana PCC President Mahesh Goud on Tuesday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been cornered in the Epstein files issue and demanded a response from the BJP and RSS.
Speaking at Gandhi Bhavan here, Goud said Rahul Gandhi was unfairly targeted despite his innocence. He revealed that discussions on Rajya Sabha nominations were held with Rahul Gandhi and that a list of 16 aspirants had been submitted to the AICC. The final list of candidates is expected to be announced shortly.
Goud said four BC leaders have sought Rajya Sabha opportunities, and clarified that Justice Sudarshan Reddy has not sought a nomination. He accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of allocating Rajya Sabha seats to corporate-backed candidates instead of Telangana activists.
With regard to party affairs, he said that DCC training sessions were conducted strictly and certificates were denied to eight DCC presidents from AP and Telangana for failing to attend the full camp. Complaints from eight constituencies regarding non-cooperation from MLAs were discussed with Rahul Gandhi, and immediate steps were initiated to resolve the issue.
Referring to opposition criticism, he clarified that chief minister A Revanth Reddy remarked that if every party worker contributes Rs.1, it would amount to Rs.1,000 crore and if required will be given to the party and its leaders, but it is being misrepresented by opposition BRS and BJP leaders.
Responding to remarks by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Goud said they were politically motivated and asserted that Congress would form the government in Kerala.
On Maoists issue, he said the Congress opposed Operation Kagar but would welcome those who surrender and wish to join the party.
