
Hyderabad, May 11 (RAHNUMA): Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha has instructed officials to transform TIMS Sanathnagar into a fully-equipped healthcare facility that can provide a wide range of medical services to patients.
On Monday, the Minister convened a meeting with officials at the Secretariat to assess the current trial run of medical services at TIMS Sanathnagar.
During the meeting, officials briefed the Minister on the medical services being provided during the trial run, the challenges being faced, and the shortcomings identified.
The Minister reviewed the functioning of OP registration counters, consultation rooms, waiting areas, diagnostics and radiology departments, inpatient departments, wards, operation theatres, and ICUs.
Officials informed the Minister that OP services are currently being provided in 22 departments as part of the trial run. They stated that the operation theatres (OTs) are ready for surgeries. The installation of advanced CT Scan, MRI, and digital X-ray machines for diagnostics has been completed. Officials also informed the Minister that installation of diagnostic equipment has been completed and tests are being conducted as part of the trial phase.
The Minister had earlier directed officials to develop TIMS Sanathnagar as a Centre of Excellence for Cardiac Care and a Centre of Excellence for Organ Transplantation. In line with these instructions, he reviewed the establishment of cath labs and organ transplant theatres to facilitate all types of cardiac surgeries and organ transplant procedures.
Officials informed the Minister that the cath lab installation works have been completed and are ready for trial runs.
Raja Narasimha further directed that non-medical services such as sanitation and security should also be strengthened along with medical services. He instructed officials to provide food facilities for patients and their attendants and to establish a dharmashala for attendants.
The meeting was attended by Special Chief Secretary ( Health) Christina Z. Chongthu, Joint Secretary Ayesha, Health and Family Welfare Commissioner Dr. Sangeetha Satyanarayana, TGMIDC Managing Director Gaurav Uppal, Director of Medical Education Narendra Kumar and other senior officials.
