
Hyderabad, May 15 (RAHNUMA): Minister for Tourism, Culture and Excise Jupally Krishna Rao on Friday unveiled the brochure for the “99-Day Action Plan–Tourism Week” to be organised across Telangana from May 18 to 23 as part of the state government’s Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika initiative.
The brochure was unveiled at the Minister’s chamber in the Secretariat in the presence of Tourism, Culture and Archaeology Special Chief Secretary Vani Prasad and Director of Tourism Laxman Ranjith Naik.
The Minister will formally launch the Tourism Week celebrations at the State Museum, Hyderabad, on May 18 as part of the International Museum Day celebrations.
Highlighting Telangana’s growing tourism potential, Krishna Rao said the week-long programmes were aimed at promoting the State’s heritage, culture, eco-tourism and historical destinations while creating greater public awareness about tourism-led development and employment opportunities.
The Tourism Week celebrations, being organised by the department of Tourism in coordination with the departments of Language & Culture, Heritage and NITHM, will feature heritage walks, tourism awareness drives, cleanliness campaigns at tourist destinations, interactions with tourism influencers and district-level tourism promotion activities.
The Minister said Telangana possesses immense tourism potential with destinations such as Ramappa Temple, Nagarjuna Sagar, Buddha Vanam, Alampur Jogulamba Temple, Laknavaram Lake, Bogatha Waterfalls, Paigah Tombs, Raymond’s Tombs, Gunfoundry, Khazana Building, Panagal Museum and several heritage structures in Warangal attracting domestic and international tourists alike.
He said the state government was focusing on integrated tourism development through infrastructure improvement, heritage conservation, promotion of cultural tourism and active community participation.
As part of the action plan, cultural programmes including folk performances, classical dance recitals, literary events and music concerts will be organised at Ravindra Bharati in Hyderabad, besides district headquarters, showcasing Telangana’s rich cultural traditions and artistic heritage.
Krishna Rao also highlighted the Tourism Conclave 2026 on the theme “Destination Telangana: Strategies for the Next Frontier of Tourism”, scheduled to be held in Hyderabad on May 23.
The conclave is expected to bring together tourism stakeholders, hospitality experts and policymakers to deliberate on future strategies for strengthening Telangana’s tourism sector and positioning the State as a premier tourism destination.
The Minister said the Tourism Week programmes would further strengthen Telangana’s image as a vibrant tourism destination and support the government’s broader vision of inclusive development and public participation under Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika.
