
Hyderabad, May 30 (RAHNUMA): Stating that education is not an expenditure but the most valuable investment in future generations, Minister for Tribal Welfare Adluri Laxman Kumar said the State government, under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, is according the highest priority to the educational advancement of SC, ST, BC, Minority and other socially and economically disadvantaged communities.
Addressing the Academic Success Meet-2026 organised as part of the nationwide celebrations of “Janjatiya Garima Utsav – Birsa Lives in New Bharat” at Babu Jagjivan Ram Bhavan in Hyderabad on Saturday, the Minister said that students studying in government educational institutions today would emerge tomorrow as key contributors to the nation’s economy, the State’s development and the economic empowerment of their families.
The Minister observed that the celebrations marking the 150th birth anniversary of tribal icon Bhagwan Birsa Munda were not merely about academic results, but a tribute to the confidence, perseverance, talent and empowerment of tribal students. He noted that the ideals and spirit of resistance embodied by Birsa Munda continue to inspire generations, alongside the legacy of tribal freedom fighters such as Komaram Bheem and Ramji Gond.
Emphasising that social justice in Telangana is being pursued through educational empowerment, Adluri Laxman Kumar said the Chief Minister firmly believes that education is the most powerful tool for eradicating poverty and breaking inter-generational deprivation.
The Minister remarked that the government views expenditure on education as a long-term investment capable of creating a skilled, productive and self-reliant society.
Highlighting the achievements of Telangana’s Tribal Welfare Residential Educational Institutions, the Minister said the Gurukul system has emerged as a model of educational excellence at the national level.
With more than 82,000 students receiving free, quality residential education, the institutions have consistently delivered outstanding academic outcomes. The SSC pass percentage reached 98.86 per cent this academic year, with 56 institutions securing a perfect 100 per cent result. Intermediate results stood at an impressive 86.53 per cent, he added.
Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Panchayat Raj and Women & Child Welfare Minister Seethakka, MLC Addanki Dayakar, MLAs Naveen Yadav and Vedma Bojju, TGTWREIS Secretary Seethalakshmi, TRICOR Chairman Bellayya Naik, TCR&TI Director Dr. Samujwala, CSIR-IICT Director Dr. Srinivas Reddy and several senior officials participated in the programme.
