Komatireddy extends support to meritorious student facing financial hardship

Hyderabad, May 30 (RAHNUMA): A social media video posted by an academically brilliant but financially distressed student triggered a swift response from Roads & Buildings and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, who stepped in on Saturday to ensure that her higher education plans did not come to a halt.

Bhavitha, a student from Boduppal, had secured an impressive 582 marks out of 600 in the SSC examinations and emerged as the topper of her school. She also secured State 634 Rank in POLYCET. However, her family’s financial crisis left her unable to clear pending school fee dues, resulting in the withholding of her certificates by the school management.

With the deadline for POLYCET certificate verification fast approaching, Bhavitha’s future appeared uncertain. In a video uploaded on social media, she appealed for help and explained that despite her academic achievements, she is unable to access the certificates required for admission.

The video reached Komatireddy Venkat Reddy early on Saturday morning. Taking immediate cognisance of the issue, the Minister directed his staff to verify the facts and personally contacted the school principal and instructed the principal to bring the student’s certificates to his residence and arranged a meeting with the student.

During the meeting, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy interacted with the student and learnt about the severe financial difficulties faced by her parents, who had reportedly suffered losses in their business. He also enquired about her academic performance and future plans. Bhavitha informed him that she intended to pursue a Diploma course before taking up engineering.

Impressed by her determination and academic excellence, the Minister immediately paid the outstanding school fee dues of ₹60,000 and facilitated the release of all her certificates. He further directed his office staff to ensure that she completes the POLYCET certificate verification process without delay.

To support her immediate educational needs, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy also provided financial assistance of ₹20,000 and assured her that he would continue to extend support for her higher studies.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that talented students should never be denied educational opportunities because of poverty. He said society must respond whenever deserving students face hardships and urged people to extend support to those in need.

An emotional Bhavitha and her family thanked Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy for his timely intervention and stated that his support had not only helped secure her certificates but had also revived her hopes of pursuing higher education
