Hyderabad, June 15 (RAHNUMA): The TPCC Adivasi Congress has announced a statewide bus yatra to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Scheduled Tribe reservations and highlight former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s contribution to tribal welfare.
The decision was taken at a meeting held at Gandhi Bhavan, attended by TPCC President and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud and chaired by Adivasi Congress State President and MLC Shankar Naik.
Addressing party leaders, Mahesh Kumar Goud said late Indira Gandhi played a historic role in studying the socio-economic conditions of tribal communities and introducing measures that paved the way for their development through ST reservations. He said the proposed bus yatra would travel through tribal regions across Telangana to create awareness about the Congress party’s contributions to tribal welfare and social justice. He urged party leaders and activists to ensure the programme’s success.
On this occasion, the TPCC chief emphasized that the core ideology of the Congress party was the welfare of SC, ST, and BC communities while noting that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy conducted the state-wide caste census in adherence to this very principle.
