TELANGANA MEDIA ACADEMY EXTENDS LIFELINE TO JOURNALISTS’ FAMILIES

Hyderabad, June 17 (RAHNUMA): Reaffirming the state’s commitment to journalists’ welfare, Telangana Media Academy Chairman K. Srinivas Reddy distributed financial assistance cheques to 21 beneficiaries under the Journalists’ Welfare Fund at the Academy auditorium in Nampally here on Wednesday.

The beneficiaries included family members of 17 deceased journalists and four journalists undergoing treatment for health-related issues.

Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas Reddy said the government led by chief minister A Revanth Reddy places high priority on the welfare of journalists and is working to address their concerns. He said the Welfare Fund provides a one-time assistance of Rs.1 lakh to the families of deceased journalists, along with a monthly pension of Rs.3,000 for five years. In addition, a monthly educational allowance of Rs.1,000 per child is provided for up to two children.

According to the Chairman, the state government has so far extended welfare assistance to 159 journalists’ families through the scheme.

On this occasion, the participants paid tribute to the departed journalists and offered condolences to their families, praying for peace to the souls of the deceased.

Telangana Media Academy Secretary Nagulapalli Venkateswara Rao, Manager Saileshwar Reddy, journalists, beneficiaries and other dignitaries attended the programme.
