Hyderabad, June 24 (RAHNUMA): Dr Reddy’s Laboratories has released a new whitepaper highlighting the urgent need to strengthen India’s translational research ecosystem to transform scientific discoveries into real-world healthcare solutions and position the country as a global innovation hub.
Titled “Translational Research Ecosystem: Learnings from the World & Building for India”, the report draws on insights from leading experts across academia, industry, government, healthcare and research institutions. It was developed following the third annual roundtable convened by the company ahead of the Dr. Anji Reddy Memorial Lecture series.
The whitepaper identifies key challenges slowing the translation of scientific discoveries into patient-ready therapies, including fragmented research pathways, funding gaps, regulatory hurdles and limited collaboration between academia and industry. It proposes a framework to address these barriers through stronger partnerships, sustained funding, regulatory capacity-building and better utilisation of India’s clinical data and healthcare networks.
Speaking on the occasion, Satish Reddy, Chairman of Dr. Reddy’s Lab, said India is at a critical stage in its innovation journey and requires stronger translational research pathways, accelerated R&D investments, skilled talent and shared infrastructure to scale innovation and improve patient outcomes.
The report stresses that success should ultimately be measured by the number of innovations that reach patients and improve health outcomes, rather than by research outputs alone.
The roundtable brought together prominent experts from India and abroad, including researchers, academic leaders, healthcare professionals and innovation ecosystem stakeholders, to discuss strategies for strengthening India’s biomedical innovation landscape.
The panelists of the third roundtable included Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, Chairperson, M S Swaminathan Research Foundation; Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao, Vice Chancellor, BITS Pilani; Dr. Shivkumar Kalyanaraman, CEO, ANRF; Prof. Guido Kroemer, Université Paris Cité; Gustave Roussy Cancer Campus, Paris; Dr. Satya Prakash Dash, CEO, IKP Knowledge Park, Hyderabad, and several others.
