NCSC chairman inaugurates renovated Hyd office, highlights record grievance redressal

Hyderabad, July 13 (RAHNUMA): National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) Chairman Kishor Makwana on Monday inaugurated the renovated NCSC State Office at CGO Towers in Hyderabad, asserting the Commission’s commitment to ensuring justice for Scheduled Castes and marginalized communities.

Addressing the gathering, Makwana said the Commission had resolved a record 60,000 cases across the country in the last two years, the highest disposal rate in its history. NCSC, functioning under Article 338 of the Constitution, remains committed to protecting the rights of Scheduled Castes in line with Dr B.R. Ambedkar’s vision, he noted.

NCSC Member Vaddepalli Ramchander said the Commission has statutory powers to issue notices, summon officials and take action against non-compliance. He also called for greater support to SC entrepreneurs through MSME and welfare initiatives.

NCSC Secretary Gudey Srinivas stressed the use of digital systems and stronger coordination between Central and State governments to speed up grievance redressal and ensure benefits reach eligible beneficiaries.

Presenting the Hyderabad office’s performance, Director Dr G Sunil Kumar Babu said the regional office disposed of 10,853 complaints during 2024-26 and facilitated Rs.33.8 crore in relief to victims under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The office also registered 177 suo motu cases and conducted 127 statutory hearings, making it one of the Commission’s best-performing regional offices.

The event was attended by senior Central and State government officials, public representatives, banking officials and members of Scheduled Caste organisations.
