Hyderabad, July 17 (RAHNUMA): The Women Safety Wing (WSW), Telangana Police, organised a Training of Trainers (ToT) programme under its flagship “Stand with Her” campaign at the National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (NI-MSME), Yousufguda, here on Friday.
Lecturers and Assistant Professors from Government Degree Colleges and Universities across Telangana participated in the programme to become Master Trainers for the statewide rollout of the campaign.
The inaugural session was attended by Director General, Women Safety Wing, Charu Sinha, Deputy Inspector General of Police Parimala Hana Nutan, Joint Director, Department of Education Dr Rajendra Singh, Dr Soundarya Joseph from the Department of School Education, and Asiya Sherwani, Head of Training, Women Safety Wing.
The campaign aims to encourage men and boys to challenge gender stereotypes, identify inappropriate behaviour and actively support women in creating safe, respectful and inclusive educational institutions and communities. The trained faculty members will conduct similar programmes in their respective institutions, creating a statewide network of gender-sensitive educators.
Addressing the participants, Charu Sinha said preventing gender-based violence requires the active involvement of men and boys, while educational institutions have a crucial role in shaping attitudes and behaviour. Dr. Rajendra Singh highlighted the responsibility of teachers in promoting equality, dignity and mutual respect among students.
The training included interactive sessions on gender sensitivity, bystander intervention, facilitation techniques and practical strategies for implementing the campaign in higher educational institutions.
The Women Safety Wing thanked the Department of Education, participating colleges and universities, and faculty members for supporting the initiative, which marks the beginning of a statewide awareness and capacity-building programme.
