Hyderabad, July 18 (RAHNUMA): Cure SMA Foundation of India has announced the fourth edition of “Run for SMA 2026”, to be held at Gachibowli Stadium on August 9, aiming to raise awareness about Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) and promote preventive healthcare.
The event was launched at the Cyberabad Commissionerate by Commissioner of Police M Ramesh, who unveiled the event poster and official T-shirt while extending support to the initiative.
Cure SMA India Co-founder Srilakshmi Nalam called for stronger collaboration among the governments, healthcare professionals, researchers, corporates and patient groups to improve access to advanced SMA treatments and promote genetic carrier screening for early prevention.
The event will feature 21K, 10K, 5K timed runs and a 5K fun run / walk. Participants will receive a T-shirt, medal, certificate, breakfast and event photographs, while winners in timed categories will receive cash prizes.
A key highlight this year is free SMA genetic carrier screening at the venue, which normally costs around Rs.5,000, to encourage informed family planning and early detection.
The organisers expect participation from students, corporate employees, healthcare professionals, runners and SMA-affected families. Registrations for the event are now open.
