Nalgonda, Aug.1 (RAHNUMA): Minister for Roads & Buildings and Cinematography Komatireddy Venkata Reddy on Saturday called upon villagers to work together to ensure the overall development of their villages.
The Minister participated in various development programmes in Nalgonda and Thipparthi mandals of Nalgonda district. He inaugurated a PWD road constructed at a cost of ₹1.35 crore at Pavuralagudem, a hamlet of Chinna Suraram village in Nalgonda mandal.
He also interacted with residents during meetings held in Chinna Suraram, Pedda Suraram and Chandanapally villages.
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the government would establish rice mills, warehouses and processing units in association with women’s self-help groups (SHGs) to strengthen their financial position and promote economic self-reliance among women. He urged women to take up small businesses and operate rice mills to improve their livelihoods.
The Minister further announced that loan cheques worth ₹3 crore would be distributed to women’s groups in Chinna Suraram, ₹2.5 crore to groups in Pedda Suraram and ₹1.5 crore to groups in Chandanapally on August 15.
He directed officials to identify 5 to 10 acres of land between Chinna Suraram and Pedda Suraram for setting up a warehouse or rice mill.
Komatireddy also sanctioned a fair price shop at Pavuralagudem and directed officials to appoint a dealer immediately. He instructed officials to complete the construction of village community buildings in the respective villages at the earliest.
The Minister directed the District Rural Development Officer to ensure maximum bank-linkage loans for women’s SHGs and urged beneficiaries to repay the loans on time.
He said the state government was constructing Indiramma houses at a cost of ₹5 lakh per unit with the objective of ensuring that no one was forced to live in a hut. Houses had been distributed across the state in the first phase, while priority was being given to families living in huts in the second phase, he said.
He added that houses would also be constructed for eligible beneficiaries who already owned house plots.
The Minister said ration cards and fine-quality rice were being provided to eligible people across the state, with 3.25 crore people receiving fine-quality rice. He said R&B roads were being constructed across Telangana at an estimated cost of ₹20,000 crore.
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said he would henceforth tour villages regularly, dedicating one day every week for the purpose. He would also tour the Nalgonda Municipal Corporation area on Sundays, he said, adding that there was no shortage of funds for development works.
