Hyderabad, Aug.1 (RAHNUMA): Telangana has registered its highest-ever single-month commercial tax revenue, with collections touching Rs.7,865 crore in July 2026, reflecting robust economic growth, improved tax compliance and effective enforcement measures.
Announcing the record performance to media persons, Commercial taxes commissioner M Raghunandan Rao said the collections marked a 19 percent increase over the Rs.6,624 crore collected in July 2025 and surpassed the previous monthly record of Rs.7,598 crore achieved in April 2026.
GST revenue alone stood at Rs.4,452 crore, registering a 22 percent year-on-year growth, while the total GST collected from taxpayers registered in Telangana, including CGST, SGST and IGST, reached Rs.5,819 crore, recording 19 percent growth. The state posted the second highest GST growth in the country after Haryana, compared to the national average of 10 percent.
The Commissioner attributed the strong performance to sustained economic activity, rising investments, expanding business opportunities, increased consumer spending and technology-driven tax administration.
As part of a special enforcement drive during July, the department identified fraudulent taxpayers involved in fake input tax credit claims. Registrations of 165 taxpayers were suspended, preventing the wrongful transfer of an estimated Rs.300 crore in fraudulent tax credits.
The department thanked 4,61,276 taxpayers who filed returns and paid taxes during the month and reiterated its commitment to maintaining a transparent, efficient and taxpayer-friendly tax administration while taking stringent action against deliberate tax evasion.
