Hyderabad, Sept.4 (RAHNUMA): In view of the growing demand for electricity and the need to ensure adequate coal supplies to thermal power stations covered under Fuel Supply Agreements (FSAs), Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Buddhaprakash Jyoti has directed the General Managers of all Areas to ensure daily coal production and transportation of 1.90 lakh tonnes.
Dr. Buddhaprakash Jyoti held a special review meeting on coal production with the company’s Directors and General Managers of all Singareni Areas at Singareni Bhavan here on Friday.
Speaking at the meeting, he said electricity consumption had increased significantly across the country. Against this backdrop, the Prime Minister’s Office, Union Ministry of Coal, Government of India, and the State Energy Department were conducting regular reviews and setting targets to ensure adequate coal supplies to thermal power stations.
The CMD directed the General Managers to make all-out efforts to step up coal production and transportation, stating that government-owned coal companies had a responsibility to ensure adequate coal availability in the larger interest of the country’s energy security.
He reviewed the Area-wise targets allotted so far and assessed the progress achieved. He also directed the General Managers to formulate appropriate action plans and take all necessary measures to achieve the targets assigned to their respective Areas.
Officials informed the meeting that, as of August 31, five months of the current financial year had been completed and SCCL had transported 253 lakh tonnes of coal. More than 90 per cent of the coal transported was supplied to thermal power stations.
