“Ambassador Zomlot: “7th of October is Not Condoned, Wholehearted Rejection of Civilian Targeting, and a Call for the Release of Hostages on Both Sides” – “Israel Behind Gaza Hospital Attack”

HYDERABAD (RAHNUMA)  In a recent interview with Piers Morgan, the Palestinian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Husam Zomlot, delivered a resounding message that merits our unwavering attention and support. Ambassador Zomlot made three critical commitments that the Palestinian Authority has steadfastly upheld for three decades, with the third being the recognition of Israel. These commitments stand as a testament to the enduring quest for a peaceful resolution by the Palestinian leadership, in stark contrast to Israel’s continuous disregard for international law and its illegal occupation of Palestinian territory.

At the same time, it is imperative to underscore the urgency of the situation, as recent reports from the Palestinian side claim that Israel attacked and targeted a hospital in Gaza killimg hundreds, a deeply troubling development.

During his interview with Morgan, Husam Zomlot also delivered a resounding message that merits our unwavering attention and support. Ambassador Zomlot reminded Peirce of three critical commitments that the Palestinian Authority has steadfastly upheld for three decades, with the third being the recognition of Israel. These commitments stand as a testament to the enduring quest for a peaceful resolution by the Palestinian leadership, in stark contrast to Israel’s continuous disregard for international law and its illegal occupation of Palestinian territory.

First and foremost, Ambassador Zomlot reiterated the unwavering commitment to nonviolence and negotiations. This pledge is a testament to the sincere aspiration for a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, emphasizing dialogue over discord. It underscores the Palestinian leadership’s dedication to a path that can bring mutual benefits, even as Israel consistently evades it with impunity.

Secondly, he emphasized the commitment to international resolutions, signifying a willingness to abide by globally recognized decisions and agreements. It highlights the Palestinian leadership’s role as a cooperative member of the international community, in stark contrast to Israel’s continuous defiance of United Nations Resolutions.

The most significant commitment is the recognition of Israel. Ambassador Zomlot pointed out that the Palestinian leadership acknowledged the State of Israel long before any other country in the region. This commitment, maintained throughout complex negotiations and conflicts, showcases the Palestinian leadership’s willingness to engage with Israel as a legitimate partner for peace. Unfortunately, Israel has persistently refused to reciprocate this recognition, it has refused to abide by United Nations resolutions, and fails to condemn its citizens’ crimes against the Palestinian people. Instead, it continues to build settlements on Palestinian land, blatantly flouting international law with US protection.

Ambassador Zomlot’s interview also shed light on the hardships faced by the Palestinian people, particularly the blockades on political, legal, and hopeful avenues. This frustration resonates with many Palestinians. Despite these challenges, Ambassador Zomlot remains steadfast in upholding the moral values of the Palestinian cause and unequivocally rejecting violence and civilian targeting. He made it explicitly clear that the terrorist attacks carried out on October 7th by Hamas are not condoned by the Palestinian Authority, and attacks on civilians are rejected wholeheartedly.

Furthermore, Ambassador Zomlot emphasized that the Palestinian Authority believes hostages on both sides need to be protected and released. It is this commitment to humanity and compassion that starkly contrasts with the unending cycle of violence and hostility that plagues the region.

Ambassador Husam Zomlot’s words reflect a commitment to a brighter future for both Palestinians and Israelis. It is now the international community’s duty to support and encourage such efforts and work collectively to ensure a just and enduring peace in the region. This requires compelling Israel to adhere to international law and holding it accountable for its actions, as well as urging the United States to cease enabling Israel’s actions with impunity. It is time for genuine progress towards a just and lasting resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, it is time now for Israel to finally recognize Palestinian Statehood.
