Hyderabad, Aug.3 (NSS): Dr Raju Narayana Swamy, IAS, Principal Secretary to Government of Kerala, popularly known as Kerala’s anti-corruption crusader, engaged with students at GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad, during two insightful sessions focused on critical contemporary issues in technology and governance.
In the afternoon session titled “Cyber Security in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” Dr Swamy provided invaluable guidance to budding cyber security engineers. He emphasized the importance of understanding legal frameworks by advising students to study the case laws connected with the IT Act of 2000 and tasked them with identifying the critical sections related to cyber security within the Act. He elaborated on the significant threat that quantum computing poses to cyber security and discussed key concepts such as the Cyber Kill Chain, Integrated Security Approach, and the implications of Artificial and Deep Neural Networks.
Dr Swamy also addressed the unique challenges India faces in the realm of cyber security, including the cloudification issues, and the evolving dynamics of human versus machine interactions. His insights into supervised and unsupervised learning and the necessity for a hybrid human-machine collaborative approach resonated with students eager to navigate the complexities of the digital age.
In response to a question regarding fighting the canker of corruption in governance, Dr Swamy stated, “Improving the system is the best way to reduce corruption,” and highlighted best practices such as Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and E & M Governance as pivotal to enhancing transparency and efficiency in public administration.
The event commenced with an introduction by Prof. T. Trinatha Rao, and the vote of thanks was delivered by CSE HoD Prof. Shaik Mahaboob Basha. Faculty members and students actively participated in both sessions, making it a fruitful exchange of ideas and knowledge.
