Hyderabad, July 29 (NSS): The State Assembly on Monday witnessed heated exchanges between the treasury benches and the principal opposition party BRS on the issue of power sector.
While former minister and BRS MLA Jagadish Reddy was taking part in the discussion on the power sector, the Chief Minister intervened and lashed out at the previous BRS government for destroying the power sector during the last ten years.
The Chief Minister said the Bhadradri Power Project was started in 2015 with an estimated cost of Rs.7,290 crore, promising to complete in 2017. But, it was completed in 2022 by increasing the cost of Rs.10,515 crore. Similarly, the Yadadri project was started with an estimated cost of Rs.25,000 crores, promising to be completed by 2020. But, even after 2024, the project was not completed and the estimated cost has increased to Rs.34,548 crore. In future, It is likely to increase to Rs.40,000 crores. The estimated cost of around Rs.10,000 crores were raised in the Yadadri project. Who is responsible for the escalation of project cost?,” he questioned.
BRS MLA Jagadish Reddy reminded the statement of Union Minister G Kishan Reddy who stated that 2,400 megawatts of power plant from NTPC is going to other States due to the negligence of the Congress government, the Chief Minister said that 4,000 MW power project was sanctioned in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, but the BRS government had allowed to produce 1600 MW and it didn’t give permission for another 2,400 MW for ten years.
The Chief Minister further stated that Congress MPs had raised their voices in the Parliament for the separate Telangana State despite being in the UPA government, but the BRS leaders maintained silence for ministerial posts and they were with former chief ministers Chandrababu Naidu and Rajasekhar Reddy, who had worked against the interest of Telangana region.
“KCR did not even open his mouth in the Parliament as long as I stood up straight in the Assembly of the united Andhra Pradesh and spoke for the formation of Telangana State. The BRS party came to power and enjoyed the government for ten years due to sacrifices made by others,” Revanth Reddy pointed out.
Indirectly making harsh remarks against BRS MLC Kavitha, who has been in the Tihar Jail in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case, the Chief Minister said that a woman journalist was jailed for not listening to the orders of previous BRS government in the past and today the BRS leader from the house of KCR’s family is now in the jail because of that sin.
