Balakrishna announces grand Silver Jubilee finale for cancer hospital

Hyderabad, June 10 (RAHNUMA): The Silver Jubilee celebrations of Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute (BIACH&RI) will culminate in a grand ceremony on June 22 at Novotel hotel in Hitech City, announced hospital chairman and actor Nandamuri Balakrishna.

The event will be attended by Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda, former Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, along with several Union and State ministers.

Talking to newsmen, Balakrishna said the institution, founded in 2000, has completed 25 years of service and continues to function on a non-profit basis. The occasion will also highlight plans for a new North Block in Hyderabad and the upcoming cancer hospital at Thullur near Amaravati in Andhra Pradesh state. The institution would remember all those who have contributed over the last 25 years towards both the construction and the operation of the hospital, and would continue to move forward inspired by their efforts, he added.

Earlier in the day, Balakrishna marked his birthday in a heartwarming manner by celebrating with children undergoing treatment at Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute. He cut a cake with the children, distributed toys and gifts, and thanked the donors who contributed towards cancer care initiatives. Donations included Rs.1 lakh from Seetharama Raju, Rs.1.01 lakh from students of Triveni and Krishnaveni Schools, and Rs.10 lakh from Kakarla Raghavendra Rao for the new cancer hospital being built at Thullur near Amaravati.

Expressing gratitude for the birthday wishes he received, Balakrishna pledged to continue serving the society with greater dedication.

Dr. T. Subrahmanyeswara Rao, Medical Director, BIACH&RI; Dr. Phani Koteswara Rao, Medical Superintendent, BIACH&RI; Dr. Kalpana Raghunadh, Associate Director – Academics, BIACH&RI; as well as several heads of medical departments, doctors, nursing staff, paramedical staff and others attended the event.
