Hyderabad, April 29 (RAHNUMA): Former Minister and BRS MLA T. Harish Rao launched a sharp attack on the Congress government, demanding that all crops be procured at Minimum Support Price (MSP).
In an open letter to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Harish Rao termed the Congress party’s ‘Farmers’ Declaration’ a “sham”, alleging failure in loan waiver promises and delays in procurement.
He accused authorities of neglecting farmers as paddy arrivals surge, with deductions at mills and procurement yet to begin. Farmers, he said, are being forced to sell produce below MSP due to lack of government support.
Harish Rao demanded for payment of Rs.500 bonus per quintal for fine paddy, purchase of 1.20 lakh quintals of sunflower crop, restart of Bengal gram procurement at MSP Rs.5,875 per quintal, establishment of jowar procurement centers and relaxation of maize procurement limits.
He warned that the BRS would intensify its agitation if farmers’ issues remain unresolved.
