Hyderabad, Aug.3 (NSS): CPI national secretary Dr. K. Narayana today said it was the collective responsibility of all to help the victims of the Vayanad natural calamity. “Unexpected deadly floods and landslides have mercilessly claimed the lives of hundreds of people and it is a heart-rending incident,” he said.
On Saturday, the CPI organised a collection of donations from Abids Circle in Hyderabad to help the victims of the devastating floods and landslides in Kerala and Wayanad. Along with the Members of the CPI Telangana State secretariat ET Narasimha, Hyderabad district secretary S. Chhaya Devi, Assistant Secretaries Kamatham Yadagiri and B. Stalin and others, Narayana accepted donations in Adids, Kothi, Gun foundry, Basheerbagh, Liberty and other places.
Speaking on the occasion, he said Wayanad, a lush green mountainous region spread across the Western Ghats, was a major tourist destination for people visiting Kerala and added that the abundant coconut and palm trees, dense forests, paddy fields and high peaks were adorned with the rich landscapes of Kerala. He said the voluntary assistance of the people of Hyderabad would help in getting immediate help to the displaced people in Wayanad and hundreds of injured victims. “With a humanitarian response, hundreds of CPI cadres from Kerala State have joined the rescue operation teams and are providing all possible assistance to the victims of the Wayanad landslide,” he said.
Stating that the aim of the CPI is to provide immediate assistance and rehabilitation to the affected families of Wayanad, he said it was the responsibility of the people of the country to stand by the families, which have been displaced by the natural calamity and have lost their loved ones and added that people should make generous donations to provide immediate assistance and rehabilitation to them.
CPI Hyderabad district executive members Salim Khan, Kampalli Srinivas, CPI city leaders Arutla Rajkumar, Shakri Bai, Mahmood, Chettukindi Srinivas, Komrelli Babu also participated in the donation collection drive.
