DELHI HC TELLS KAVITHA TO TAKE CALL ON FINALISING HER PARTY’s NAME

Hyderabad, July 7 (RAHNUMA): The Delhi High Court has directed Kalvakuntla Kavitha to respond to the Election Commission of India notices regarding objections to her party name. The Delhi High Court on Tuesday directed founder of Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) party Kalvakuntla Kavitha to respond to the Election Commission’s (EC) notices regarding the finalization of her party’s name.

Kavitha approached the High Court after the EC wrote to her, stating that significant objections had been raised against the proposed name of her party (TRS) and asking her to suggest the alternative names.

During the course of hearing, the court declined to interfere in the EC’s functioning and asked Kavitha to address all objections raised in the June 23 EC notice. Observing that both “Telangana Rakshana Samithi” and “Telangana Rakshana Sena” closely resemble the erstwhile TRS name, the court suggested that she submit alternative names to the Election Commission while responding to its objections.
