Hyderabad, May 28 (RAHNUMA): Former minister Boda Janardhan joined the Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS), founded by former MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha, along with his supporters in Hyderabad on Thursday.
At the party office in Banjara Hills, Kavitha formally welcomed Janardhan by draping the party scarf around him. A four-time MLA from Chennur constituency on behalf of the TDP, Janardhan also served as a minister in the cabinet of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao.
Welcoming him into the party, Kavitha said the entry of experienced leaders like Janardhan would strengthen the TRS and assured that adequate priority would be given to his followers within the organisation.
On this occasion, Kavitha launched a scathing attack on the Congress government in Telangana, alleging exploitation in the Singareni coal sector. She claimed that attempts were being made to phase out the system of providing dependent jobs to workers’ families and criticised the government for failing to create new employment opportunities through expansion of mining operations.
Targeting Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, she alleged that exploitation of Singareni workers was continuing under the present administration.
Further, Kavitha criticised the state government over the RTC merger issue, stating that despite promises of a complete merger of the Road Transport Corporation with the government, there was still no clarity regarding employee cadres or the integration process. Referring to the recent suicide of an RTC driver, she accused the government of delaying the issue without addressing workers’ concerns.
She also recalled that public pressure had forced the government to reinstate a driver who was allegedly dismissed for questioning paddy procurement policies.
