Hyderabad, Sept.6 (RAHNUMA): Former minister and BRS Deputy Floor Leader T. Harish Rao on Sunday alleged that the Congress government’s failure to clear pending fee reimbursement dues had pushed thousands of students into a distressing situation, with colleges withholding their certificates.
“Several students have approached me and shared their plight. They have completed engineering and other degree courses, secured jobs in reputed companies with annual packages of ₹6–7 lakh, and are holding offer letters. However, they are unable to join their jobs as colleges are refusing to hand over their certificates due to the government’s pending fee reimbursement dues,” Harish Rao said in a statement here.
He said students were being forced to run from pillar to post to obtain their certificates. Without the certificates, many were unable to join their jobs, pursue higher education or travel abroad for further studies, he said.
The BRS leader said many of the affected students belonged to rural and economically weaker families. Their parents had made considerable sacrifices to educate their children, hoping they would secure good jobs and build a better future.
“Today, these parents are living in fear, not knowing what will happen to their children’s future. The government has no right to put such families through this distress,” he said.
Harish Rao questioned the government’s priorities, asking why it was unable to clear the pending fee reimbursement dues of students while spending thousands of crores on various projects and contracts.
He urged the government to immediately clear the outstanding fee reimbursement dues and ensure that colleges release the certificates of eligible students without causing further hardship.
