HIGHWAY TO GROWTH: CENTRE CLEARS ₹7,597-CR TELANGANA ROAD MEGA PROJECT

Hyderabad, June 3 (RAHNUMA): In a major boost to Telangana’s road infrastructure, the Centre has approved a Rs.7,597.16 crore project to widen key stretches of National Highways 63 and 563 to four lanes on Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) and Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT), respectively. Spanning 190.76 km across Nizamabad, Jagtial, Mancherial and Karimnagar districts, the project aims to decongest busy urban stretches and improve freight movement.

The upgraded corridors will feature bypasses around major towns and support speeds of up to 100 kmph. Upon completion, travel time between Armoor and Mancherial is expected to reduce by nearly 90 minutes, while commuters between Jagtial and Karimnagar will save around 45 minutes. The projects are in line with the PM GatiShakti principles and will connect five Economic Nodes, seven Social Nodes and ten Logistic Nodes. This will have a positive impact on the Logistic Performance Index (LPI) of the country.

Officials said the project will strengthen regional connectivity, improve logistics efficiency and spur economic development across northern Telangana. Additionally, the project will result in substantial reductions in fuel consumption, carbon emissions, and vehicle operating costs (VOC).
