Hyderabad, May 23 (RAHNUMA): Hyderabad City Police has launched “AI CopWriter”, an Artificial Intelligence-powered mobile application aimed at eliminating language barriers in police complaint registration, marking a first-of-its-kind initiative in the country.
The app was unveiled on Saturday at TGICCC, Banjara Hills, by city police commissioner V. C. Sajjanar. The technology will soon be deployed in more than 80 police stations across Hyderabad.
Designed to assist migrant workers, tourists and non-Telugu speakers, the app can instantly record, transcribe and translate complaints narrated in over 10 Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Bengali and Marathi. Police said the system significantly reduces delays in FIR registration caused by language barriers and removes the need for translators.
Developed in collaboration with BlueCloud Softech Solutions and intern Pagro Chandu, the app converts spoken complaints into official records within seconds. It also embeds details such as the recording officer’s name and time stamp into PDF documents, ensuring transparency and preventing tampering.
Officials said the app can separately identify statements made by victims, accused persons and witnesses, improving investigation quality and standardising police documentation.
Speaking at the launch, Sajjanar said the initiative reflects Hyderabad Police’s commitment to “Smart Policing” and technology-driven public services. He expressed confidence that the app would enhance trust in policing, especially among women, elderly citizens and migrant communities.
Additional CP (Crimes and SIT) M. Srinivasulu, Additional CP (Law and Order) Tafsir Iqbal, DCP (SMIT) Ch. Rupesh, IT Cell Inspector Ramesh, the representatives from the BlueCloud Softech Solutions and others participated in the app launch event.
