Hyderabad hosts grand walkathon to drive census awareness at Necklace Road

Hyderabad, May 11 (RAHNUMA): A grand walkathon programme was organised at Necklace Road in Hyderabad on Monday to create awareness among citizens about the importance of the Census and public participation in the enumeration process.

The cheif guest of the programme was prominent actress Amala Akkineni. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from officials, volunteers, students, staff, and members of the public.

The walkathon was led by Director of Census Bharathi Holikari, GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan and Zonal Commissioner B. Santosh, who emphasised the vital role of accurate census data in planning developmental activities.

Participants carried placards and raised slogans highlighting the significance of self-enumeration and public cooperation during the census process. Director of Census Bharathi Holikari and GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan appealed to citizens to provide correct information and actively support census officials to ensure comprehensive and reliable data collection.

RV Karnan stated that awareness programmes like Walkathons help in reaching every section of society and encourage community involvement in nation-building activities.

The programme created a vibrant atmosphere at Necklace Road and successfully spread awareness among morning walkers and visitors. The initiative reflected the commitment of the authorities towards public outreach and citizen engagement for the successful conduct of the census.
