INSTITUTIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN CRUCIAL FOR UNIVERSITIES: PROF CHAKRAPANI

Hyderabad, May 18 (RAHNUMA): Stressing the need for long-term strategic planning in higher education institutions, BRAOU Vice-Chancellor Ghanta Chakrapani said that the Institutional Development Plans (IDPs) are crucial for universities to achieve excellence and future readiness.

Addressing the valedictory function of “Education Week” at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University here on Monday, Prof. Chakrapani said the University was moving towards becoming a comprehensive digital educational institution through the systematic implementation of its “Institutional Development Plan (2026–2036).”

He said the university, currently in its fifth decade, would treat the coming years as a “Decade of Transformation”, with a focus on innovation, inclusion, institutional excellence, outreach and skill-oriented education. Employment-focused courses are being introduced alongside conventional academic programmes, he added.

The Vice-Chancellor noted that the University’s functioning has been reorganised around five major verticals — Academic Affairs, Student Services, Administrative Services, Technical Services and Skill Development — with the learner placed at the centre of all activities.

Prof Chakrapani, along with University directors and deans, formally released the “Institutional Development Plan (2026–2036)” during the programme. He also announced that the university had successfully completed the online application process for recognition from the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET).

The week-long “Education Week”, organised from May 11 to 17 at the university campus, concluded with the valedictory session presided over by Academic director G. Pushpa Chakrapani.
