Komatireddy orders officials on high alert amid heavy rains

Hyderabad, July 30 (RAHNUMA): In view of the widespread rainfall across Telangana over the past two days, Roads & Buildings (R&B) Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy held a review meeting at the Secretariat on Thursday with senior officials to assess the situation and preparedness.

The Minister reviewed the condition of roads, bridges, low-level causeways, and culverts across the erstwhile districts and R&B divisions, seeking detailed reports on vulnerable infrastructure.

He directed officials to make alternative traffic arrangements in flood-affected areas to ensure that road connectivity is not disrupted.

The Minister also instructed officials to install warning signboards near damaged roads, submerged causeways, and culverts to prevent accidents and safeguard commuters.

Emphasising the need for constant vigilance, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy directed all officials to remain in the field and ensure that adequate safety measures are taken at roads and bridges currently under construction.

He asked the department to coordinate closely with the Revenue, Police, Electricity, and Irrigation departments at the field level for effective disaster response.

The Minister instructed officials to prepare daily field reports and said he would conduct regular mobile conference calls with field engineers to monitor the situation.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy also directed all R&B officials, from the Engineer-in-Chief (ENC) to Assistant Engineers (AEs), to remain on full alert until the situation returns to normal.
