MGIT HOSTS INTL CONF ON DISRUPTIVE INNOVATIONS FOR SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

Hyderabad, Aug.7 (RAHNUMA): Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology (MGIT), Gandipet, Hyderabad, inaugurated the two-day International Conference on Disruptive Innovations for a Sustainable Future (ICDISF 2026) on Friday. The conference, being held on August 7 and 8, brings together the researchers, academicians, industry experts and students to explore innovations aimed at sustainable development.

Padma Shri Dr. K. Balasubramanian, Director, Non-Ferrous Materials Technology Development Centre (NFTDC), was the chief guest, while Dr. A. Raju, distinguished Scientist and Director, DRDL, DRDO, attended as guest of honour. Prof. Ravi Ravindran of the University of Toronto, Canada, delivered the presidential address.

Dr. Balasubramanian urged the researchers to look beyond present-day technological requirements and anticipate challenges of the next two decades. “Science is knowledge creation, whereas technology is knowledge integration”, he said, stressing long-term vision, collaboration and optimum utilisation of resources.

Prof. Ravi Ravindran called for sustainability to remain at the core of research, with emphasis on environmental impact, recycling and resource conservation. Dr. A. Raju highlighted the importance of continuous innovation in strengthening India’s technological capabilities and achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

MGIT Principal Prof. G. Chandramohan Reddy highlighted the institute’s focus on research and innovation and encouraged students to pursue their interests while nurturing creativity. The conference features keynote lectures, invited talks and technical sessions covering emerging technologies and sustainable solutions.

Prof. U. Johnson Alengaram of Malaysia delivered special talks on professional engineering, high-impact publishing, advanced technology, sustainability, resilience and social inclusion. The conference will conclude on August 8.
