
Hyderabad, June 6 (RAHNUMA): Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Fisheries Minister Vakiti Srihari on Saturday visited the Exhibition Grounds in Nampally, Hyderabad, to oversee preparations for the distribution of ‘fish prasadam. This distribution, intended for asthma patients, is scheduled for June 8, coinciding with the start of the Mrigashira Karthi.
The Ministers emphasised the need for officials to implement all essential measures to guarantee a smooth experience for the public during the fish prasadam distribution, which is set to commence at 9 PM on June 8.
Officials were directed to maintain a high level of vigilance to prevent any potential stampedes within the queues and to ensure the preservation of public order. Furthermore, authorities were tasked with ensuring an uninterrupted power supply throughout the event.
Considering the intense summer heat, instructions were issued to install fans and air coolers in the areas designated for patient queues.
Officials from all relevant departments have been instructed to use a dedicated WhatsApp group and a control room established at the exhibition grounds to monitor the entire operation until the completion of the fish prasadam distribution.
Measures were also to be put in place to prevent traffic congestion in the vicinity of Nampally. The Ministers further requested officials to arrange for the availability of ambulances and to set up medical camps equipped with necessary medications. Additionally, it was mandated that CPR teams be stationed along the queue lines.
Minister Vakiti Srihari directed that ‘She Teams’ be deployed and that awareness be raised through announcements to keep people alert against pickpocketing. He also advised maintaining continuous surveillance via CCTV cameras.
He stated that there should be no issues regarding drinking water and that voluntary organisations should provide food to visiting devotees, just as they do every year.
Ponnam Prabhakar, the in-charge Minister of Hyderabad district, stated that usually, the Mrugasira event takes place during the morning hours and however, this time, the programme will commence at 9:00 PM on June 8.
“Since the Mrugasira event is taking place at night, we are taking all necessary measures to ensure everything proceeds smoothly without any difficulties. The distribution of fish prasadam will continue uninterrupted until nightfall on June 9,” he said.
Rajya Sabha member Anil Kumar Yadav, Fisheries Corporation Chairman Mettu Saikumar, Sports Authority of Telangana (SATG) Chairman Shiva Sena Reddy, and officials from various departments participated in the programme.
