(RAHNUMA) Hyderabad: In a fervent demonstration led by prominent political figures, parents and students of Safrani School, located near Dargah Hussain Shah Wali, protested in front of the institution on Thursday. The protest was spearheaded by Mr. Syed Azeez Pasha, former Member of Parliament and Secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI), alongside Mr. Ramu Goud, a leader of the Telangana Congress Committee. The demonstrators demanded the immediate reopening of the school, which they claim was closed unilaterally and illegally.

Established in 1986 by philanthropist Mrs. Suraiya Hasan, Safrani School was operated by a trust under her chairpersonship and had been running smoothly. However, following Mrs. Hasan’s death during an epidemic, the current chairperson of the trust, Nary Saqueira, allegedly showed no interest in continuing the school’s operations. In a sudden move, Saqueira reportedly locked the school’s main door and declared its closure, jeopardizing the education of 150 students.

The protestors, led by Mr. Azeez Pasha, approached the Commissioner of School Education to address the issue. With the Commissioner currently in Delhi, Joint Director Mr. Madan Mohan was instructed to investigate the matter immediately. The issue was also brought to the attention of Principal Secretary of Education Mr. Venkatesham, IAS, who assured the delegation that the matter would be taken seriously.

The delegation included Mr. Qutuboddin, Syed Alam, Ramulamma, Farhatunnisa, Ghouse, and other concerned individuals. They emphasized the urgency of reopening the school to secure the future of its students. The community awaits swift action from the authorities to resolve the crisis and ensure the continuity of education at Safrani School.
