Hyderabad, June 1 : The Telangana Food Safety Department conducted a raid on May 31 at China Bistro, a restaurant in Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills, uncovering significant food safety violations. During the inspection, authorities found several expired food items, including Scamorza cheese, pasta, rice flour, and white vinegar. Semi-prepared food items in the refrigerator were also past their use-by dates and were immediately discarded.
Additional violations included:
Improper labeling : Mayonnaise sweet sauce, premium dry fruits (nutmeg, dry dates, makhana, cloves), and pancake syrup were not labeled according to FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) regulations.
Hygiene issues : Dustbins were found open without proper lids, indicating a lapse in cleanliness standards.
Lack of documentation : The restaurant did not have medical fitness certificates for food handlers or pest control records. Moreover, the true copy of the FSSAI license was not displayed on the premises, as required by law.
The Food Safety Department’s actions highlight the critical importance of adhering to food safety and hygiene regulations to protect consumer health and ensure the proper handling and storage of food items in restaurants.
