Revanth hails Hyderabad-based Skyroot for historic Vikram-1 launch

Hyderabad, July 18 (RAHNUMA): Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday congratulated Hyderabad-based space tech startup Skyroot Aerospace for scripting history with the successful launch of Vikram-1, India’s first privately developed orbital launch vehicle.

Hailing the milestone as a monumental achievement for the state and the nation, the Chief Minister noted that the success firmly positions Hyderabad as a premier hub for aerospace innovation and deep-tech enterprise.

In a statement, Revanth Reddy stated that reaching for the skies, it is a proud day for India, and even greater pride for Hyderabad. Telangana is where India’s space dreams take shape. Congratulations to the entire Skyroot team—Hyderabad’s innovation ecosystem continues to lead the nation into the future,”.

Named ‘Mission Aagaman’, the seven-storey-tall, four-stage rocket successfully lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota. The vehicle executed its flight sequence flawlessly, injecting its technology demonstration payloads into a precise Low Earth Orbit (LEO) at an altitude of approximately 450 kilometers.

Featuring an all-carbon composite body, the Vikram-1 rocket is driven by three solid-fuel stages and a liquid-fueled Orbital Adjustment Module (OAM) equipped with a 3D-printed engine designed for multiple restarts in space.

The successful deployment makes Skyroot the first Indian private player to achieve orbital capability, validating the goals of the Indian Space Policy to expand commercial space participation. Alongside critical commercial payloads, the rocket carried a handwritten postcard from Prime Minister Narendra Modi bearing the message “Vande Mataram.”
