
Hyderabad, July 6 (RAHNUMA): Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt visited Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute here on Monday, where he interacted with doctors and cancer patients and praised the hospital’s advanced treatment facilities.
He was welcomed by chairman and actor Nandamuri Balakrishna, along with Trust Board members Nara Brahmani and J. S. R. Prasad. The dignitaries paid floral tributes to the statues of late Nandamuri Basavatarakam and N. T. Rama Rao within the hospital premises. Dr. T. S. Rao, Medical Director, BIACH&RI; Mr. Ravi Srinivasa Rao, COO, BIACH&RI; Dr. Phani Koteswara Rao, Medical Superintendent, BIACH&RI and Heads of Departments, doctors, staff members and other dignitaries were also present.
A lung cancer survivor himself, Dutt toured the PET-CT Unit, Radiation Oncology department, Bone Marrow Transplant Unit and Pediatric Ward, where he met patients, distributed fruits and gifts to children, and interacted with specialists about the hospital’s cutting-edge cancer care.
At a felicitation ceremony, Balakrishna honoured Dutt with a ceremonial shawl, a hospital memento and an idol of Lord Venkateswara.
Addressing the gathering, Balakrishna said the hospital, established in memory of his mother, has grown into one of India’s leading cancer treatment centres with advanced diagnostic, radiation, robotic surgery and laboratory facilities. He reiterated the institution’s goal of becoming one of the world’s finest cancer hospitals.
Sharing his personal battle with lung cancer, Dutt urged people not to fear the disease and stressed the importance of early screening and timely treatment. He noted that early diagnosis and prompt treatment can lead to complete recovery. He praised the hospital’s commitment to providing world-class cancer care and compassionate treatment under Balakrishna’s leadership.
