
Hyderabad, May 22 (RAHNUMA): The South Central Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (SCRWWO), Secunderabad Division, organized a seminar on rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge and solid waste management at railway stations at Sanchalan Bhavan here on Friday. Dr. R. Gopalakrishnan, DRM of Secunderabad division, attended as chief guest, while Sandhya Gopalakrishnan, President, SCRWWO–SC Division, was the guest of honour.
Addressing the gathering, DRM Gopalakrishnan stressed the importance of sustainable practices, water conservation and scientific waste management in railway operations. Sandhya Gopalakrishnan highlighted the need for public awareness and community participation to ensure long-term environmental sustainability.
Experts including Dr. Kiran Kumar and Dr. Aarati Bhandare delivered technical sessions on groundwater recharge and scientific waste disposal methods at railway stations.
The event was attended by officers of Secunderabad Division and members of SCRWWO–SC Division. The programme reflected the joint commitment of Secunderabad Division and SCRWWO–SC Division towards promoting environmental awareness, resource conservation and sustainable practices across railway establishments.
