Sridhar Babu lambasts BRS leaders  for undermining democracy

Hyderabad, Sept.10 (NSS): Legislative Affairs Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu strongly condemned the recent actions of BRS leaders, accusing them of disregarding democratic traditions and misusing their authority.

The Minister emphasised the need to respect the Constitution and its processes, stating that the Assembly Speaker and Legislative Council Chairman have always conducted proceedings with due regard to constitutional values, rules, and traditions.

Speaking at a press conference at the media conference hall on the premises of  Assembly here on Tuesday, Sridhar Babu said,”It is inappropriate for opposition parties to make remarks that demean the Speaker’s chair. While there may be differing opinions about individuals, it is essential that everyone respects the institution itself,”

He further explained that Assembly committees are established as per procedural guidelines, and no one has the right to challenge the Speaker’s decisions.

Criticising the behavior of BRS leaders, Sridhar Babu said, “Even though it has been eight months since the people delivered their verdict, BRS leaders have not changed their approach. Despite being decisively defeated in the parliamentary elections, where the people reduced them to zero, the BRS leaders continue their baseless attacks.”

He accused the BRS government of eroding democratic systems and dismantling institutions. Referring to the appointment of PAC Chairpersons, Sridhar Babu highlighted how BRS sidelined Congress, the main opposition party, during its tenure. “Everyone saw how the BRS leadership manipulated positions and caused difficulties for Bhatti Vikramarka, the opposition leader at that time.”

Further, Sridhar Babu likened the behavior of BRS leaders to “ghosts reciting scriptures,” indicating that they hypocritically speak about the Constitution while violating its principles. He added that under BRS rule, power and governance were handled recklessly, without any respect for rules and procedures.

Regarding current developments, Sridhar Babu expressed confidence in the Congress party’s ability to uphold democracy and serve the people effectively. He pointed out that while BRS leaders continue to speak without restraint, their internal differences are of no concern to the Congress.

The Minister also addressed the issue of disqualification of MLAs, affirming that Congress respects the judicial process and will await the court’s directives. “The court has only instructed the commencement of the disqualification process within four weeks; it has not directed us to make a decision immediately,” he clarified.
