Telangana government declares holiday for Maha Shivratri

Hyderabad  1st March 2024: In a move to honor and facilitate the celebration of Maha Shivratri, the Telangana government has announced a general holiday on March 8, 2024. This decision extends to both government offices and schools across the state.

As a result of the holiday falling on a Friday, schools in Telangana will also remain closed, providing students and teachers the opportunity to observe and participate in the festivities associated with Maha Shivratri.

Furthermore, with the subsequent days being the second Saturday and Sunday of the month, schools that close on Thursday will resume classes on the following Monday, ensuring minimal disruption to the academic calendar.

Looking ahead, the month of March holds significance with two more holidays scheduled. On March 25, the festival of Holi will be celebrated, marking a joyous occasion of colors and camaraderie. Following shortly after, on March 29, Good Friday will be observed, a solemn day for reflection and observance for the Christian community.

These additional holidays provide residents of Telangana with opportunities to celebrate their cultural and religious traditions, fostering a sense of unity and inclusivity within the state.

The Telangana government’s decision to declare these holidays reflects its commitment to recognizing and respecting the diverse religious and cultural practices of its citizens, promoting harmony and cohesion among different communities.

As Telangana prepares to observe Maha Shivratri and the upcoming holidays in March, residents across the state are encouraged to celebrate responsibly, ensuring that these occasions are marked with joy, reverence, and mutual respect.
