Hyderabad, Aug.7 (RAHNUMA): A Varuna Yagam will be conducted at Nagarjunasagar on August 10 under the aegis of Telangana Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, seeking widespread rainfall, abundant river flows and the replenishment of reservoirs and tanks across the State.
The special Vedic ritual is being organised following a decision by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who expressed the desire for prayers to be offered for copious rainfall across Telangana and the prosperity of the farming community.
The Yagam will be performed at the Vijaya Vihar premises on the banks of the Nagarjunasagar reservoir, with Uttam Kumar Reddy overseeing the programme and arrangements.
Following the Chief Minister’s directions, priests and Vedic scholars of the Yadagirigutta Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, in consultation with the temple Siddhanti, fixed August 10 as the auspicious date for the Varuna Yagam.
The rituals will be conducted under the auspices of the Endowments department. Priests and Vedic scholars from Yadagirigutta will perform the prescribed Vedic rituals and offer special prayers for abundant rains, healthy flows in the Krishna and Godavari rivers, and the filling up of reservoirs, tanks and other water bodies across Telangana.
Prayers will also be offered for a prosperous agricultural season, plentiful crops and the well-being of farmers across the State.
The day-long Vedic rituals will culminate in a Maha Purnahuti in the evening, which will be attended by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
The Varuna Yagam is being conducted with the collective prayer that Telangana receives plentiful rainfall, its rivers and reservoirs brim with water, and the State witnesses agricultural abundance and prosperity.
