Hyderabad, July 28 (RAHNUMA): The University of Hyderabad (UoH) has achieved a significant academic milestone with two of its senior faculty members being awarded the prestigious JC Bose Grant (JBG) by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), Government of India.
The awardees are Prof Rajadurai Chandrasekar from the School of Chemistry and Prof Naresh Babu V Sepuri from the Department of Biochemistry, School of Life Sciences. Introduced by ANRF in 2025, the JC Bose Grant is among India’s highest individual research honors, recognizing outstanding senior scientists and supporting high-impact, cutting-edge research.
Prof. Chandrasekar’s project, “Artificial Intelligence-enabled Soft Materials for Programmable Optical Communication Devices”, aims to develop AI-powered soft materials for next-generation optical communication technologies.
Prof. Sepuri’s five-year research project, “Defining the functional Heterogeneity of Mitochondria in Modulating Metabolic Plasticity and Disease States”, will explore how mitochondrial diversity influences metabolism, aging, and disease, potentially advancing the understanding of several metabolic disorders.
The grant provides Rs.25 lakh annually for five years for research, along with Rs.1 lakh per year as institutional overhead. The recognition underscores the University of Hyderabad’s growing prominence in frontier scientific research and innovation.
