Hyderabad, May 26 (NSS): Minister for Civil Supplies Uttam Kumar Reddy has lambasted BJP and BRS parties for spewing venom at the State government on the paddy lifting and rice procurement.
Speaking at a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here on Sunday, Uttam Kumar Reddy along with Minister Sridhar Babu, MLCs Jeevan Reddy and Mahesh Kumar Goud, MLAs Laxman Kumar and Sanjeev Kumar alleged that both BJP and BRS parties were spreading lies and untruths against the Congress government and there was no truth in the criticisms made by the opposition parties.
He alleged that the Civil Supplies department during the previous government had incurred a debt of Rs.58,000 crores and the BRS leaders had pushed the department into bankrupt.
“The Congress government has started buying the paddy produce from farmers and set up the paddy procurement centers across the Telangana State in advance compared to the previous BRS government. The Telangana is only the State in India buying rain-soaked paddy at MSP,” Uttam Kumar Reddy said.
He accused BRS working president KT Rama Rao and BJP MLA Maheswara Reddy of uttering lies on the paddy lifting and rice procurement and cautioned that he would not tolerate irresponsible accusations in the future.
“It’s a complete baseless allegation that I have taken money from millers. At least I have not met any miller indivisually,” he clarified.
He further informed that the Congress government is encouraging the rice milling industry, but taking tough actions against the defaulters. (NSS)
