
Hyderabad, Aug.8 (NSS): Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has expressed condolences over the death of former West Bengal chief minister and CPM leader Buddhadeb Bhattacharya.
In a post on X on Thursday, the Chief Minister recalled Buddhadeb’s 11 years as Chief Minister and five decades of public service, calling him a pillar of righteousness.
He has conveyed his condolences to the family members of former West Bengal chief minister and the CPM community.
Buddhadeb Bhattacharya ( 80), who had been suffering from old age-related ailments for some time, died at his residence in Kolkata on Thursday.
CPI(M) leader Bhattacharjee assumed office as the Chief Minister of West Bengal in 2000, succeeding party elder Jyoti Basu.
In the 2011 Assembly elections, Bhattacharya was defeated by the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress, marking the conclusion of the CPI(M)-led Left Front’s 34-year-long governance in the State.
