
Khammam, Aug.11 (NSS): The trial run of pump houses of the Sita Rama Lift Irrigation Project was conducted successfully in Khammam district on Sunday.
Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Tummala Nageswara Rao and Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy jointly inaugurated the trial run of the Sitarama project and examined the condition of pump houses at the field level.
Speaking on the occasion, Irrigation Minister Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy said three pump houses are getting ready to start and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will officially inaugurate the project at Wyra in Khammam district on August 15.
The Minister stated that the State government has already submitted a Detailed Project Report and other clearances secured by the project so far to the Godavari River Management Board (GRMB), seeking the allocation of 67 TMC from Godavari waters for Sitarama project aimed at stabilising 3.45 lakh acres of Nagarjunasagar tail-end ayacut and creating irrigation potential to another 3.29 lakh acres afresh (a total of 6.74 lakh acres), in Khammam, Bhadradri-Kothagudem and Mahabubabad districts.
“A public meeting will be organised at Wyra in Khammam on August 15 after the inauguration of pump houses of the project,” Uttam Kumar Reddy said
The Minister also directed the officials concerned to speed up the process of constructing the distributories under the Sitarama project.
