
Hyderabad, Aug.11 (NSS): Despite all the surveillance by law enforcing authorities, smugglers were carrying out thefts in a smart manner. Kilos of gold that have been seen at any airport recently are being seized.
A shocking incident took place at the Shamshabad airport. Foreign gold worth Rs 1.06 crore was seized from a passenger. The Customs and the DRI officials have arrested a passenger who was smuggling foreign gold from Dubai. He left for Hyderabad from Dubai. When he reached Shamshabad airport, he was shocked to see the Customs officials. He walked around at the airport fearing being caught. This made the authorities suspicious of him. The suspected passenger was detained at the international exit. On checking his luggage, the Customs officials were startled.
Two large metal bars, which were in the shape of a battery hidden by the passenger along with his backpack was seized by the officials. The gold weighed 1390.850 gram by the officials. A case has been registered and he has been taken into custody and is being interrogated by the officials.
