Hyderabad, Sept.17 (NSS):Setting a new record, the Ganesh laddu at Keerthi Richmond Villas in Sun City, Bandlaguda Jagir, was auctioned for a staggering Rs.1.87 crore here on Tuesday. This marks an increase of Rs.61 lakh from previous year price. Last year, the laddu was sold for about Rs.1.26 crore lakh.
This price is said to be the highest ever recorded in the Telugu States.
Every year, the Richmond Villas residents organise auctioning of Ganesh laddu as part of the festivities. The money raised from the auction is used for charity purposes.
BALAPUR GANESH LADDU
Meanwhile, the very popular Balapur Ganesh Laddu broke its own record this year and fetched Rs. 30.01 lakh on Tuesday in an open auction held before the start of Ganesh immersion procession. Kolan Shankar Reddy, a local Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) leader from Balapur, successfully bid the laddu.
Last year, the laddu was auctioned for Rs. 27 lakh and was purchased Dasari Dayananda Reddy.
The amount earned through the laddu auction will be spent on various development activities in Balapur village.
Meanwhile, police made elaborate arrangements for the peaceful conduct of the auction. After conducting special pujas and prayers, the Balapur Ganesh was taken in a mammoth procession for the immersion. A large number of people thronged to bid adieu to the lord Ganesh.
