Hyderabad, Dec.13 (RAHNUMA): BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Sunday warned that his party would not tolerate harassment of newly elected Sarpanches by the ruling Congress government. Addressing a felicitation programme in Sircilla, he announced that special legal cells would be established in every district to protect Sarpanches and ensure immediate legal support.
KTR alleged that Congress had failed to implement its promises, and claimed that BRS-backed candidates winning a majority of Sarpanch seats reflected the public anger against the Congress government. He assured that constitutionally mandated Finance Commission funds to villages cannot be stopped and promised training programmes for elected representatives on Panchayat Raj governance.
