
Hyderabad, March 25 (RAHNUMA): In a major crackdown on food adulteration, the Commissioner’s Task Force (Golconda Zone), along with Khairatabad Task Force and Goshamahal Police, busted an illegal coconut powder manufacturing unit in Begum Bazar and arrested one person.
The accused, Nakoul Marotiyaa (31), was found running a unit under the name “Balaji Purushotham Coconut Business Shop”, where he allegedly repackaged low-quality coconut powder sourced from Karnataka and sold it under branded labels to cheat consumers.
Officials seized 8,300 kg of adulterated coconut powder, three packing machines, three weighing machines and 400 packing covers. The total value of the seized property is estimated at Rs.21 lakh.
Police said the accused was operating without valid licenses, food safety certification, or proper labeling such as batch numbers and expiry dates, posing serious health risks to the public.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the BNS and FSSAI Act. Further investigation is underway.
