
Hyderabad, March 26 (RAHNUMA): A tragic road accident took place in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday, involving a private travel bus that collided with a tipper truck transporting gravel. This incident occurred near Rayavaram in the Markapuram district, resulting in the tragic loss of 14 passengers who perished in the fire.
According to police reports, a Harikrishna Private Travels bus (Registration No. AP39UC5265)—traveling from Jagtial in Telangana to Kanigiri in Nellore district—met an accident at Rayavaram in Markapuram.
At the Palakala Quarries junction, the bus collided with a tipper truck approaching from Chimakurthi, which was loaded with gravel. The collision sparked a fire, resulting in the bus being completely gutted.
In this tragedy, 10 passengers were burnt alive at the scene of the accident, while four others succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment. It is reported that there were 40 passengers on board the bus at the time of the accident. Four bodies, burnt beyond recognition, were found inside the bus cabin.
It is reported that the tragic accident occurred between 6:00 AM and 6:30 AM. Alerted by the incident, locals rushed to the scene, while police and fire department personnel arrived shortly thereafter to undertake rescue operations. The injured have been shifted to a private hospital in Markapuram, where they are currently receiving treatment. The death toll is likely to rise further.
