Hyderabad, June 10 (RAHNUMA): Dr. Suresh Kumar Mojjada, Senior Scientist at ICAR–National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM), Hyderabad, has secured the prestigious Prime Minister’s Early Career Research Grant (PM-ECRG) awarded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation.
The Rs.63.7 lakh project aims to develop India’s first integrated decision-support framework for scaling indigenous open-sea mariculture enterprises. The initiative will combine geospatial, production and techno-economic models to improve investment planning, enterprise forecasting and risk assessment in the marine aquaculture sector.
Drawing lessons from successful mariculture models in countries such as Norway, Japan, China and Brazil, the project seeks to strengthen policy formulation, coastal planning and entrepreneurship opportunities. The key project deliverables include: development of an Integrated Mariculture Data Cube (IMDC) synthesizing species-specific production forecasting models for commercially important marine finfish. The research is expected to boost employment, coastal livelihoods, startup growth and India’s blue economy ambitions.
