Governor visits Saifabad Mint Museum

Hyderabad, June 10 (RAHNUMA): Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Wednesday visited the Mint (Coin) Museum located within the Saifabad Mint Complex and underscored the importance of preserving and showcasing the country’s monetary and economic heritage for future generations.

The museum, established under the aegis of the Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL), houses a collection of historical coins, minting equipment and exhibits tracing the evolution of coin production in India.

During the visit, the Governor examined various displays showcasing coins from different periods, the processes involved in their manufacture and the machinery used in minting operations. Dr. Ramakant Dixit, Chief General Manager, India Government Mint, Hyderabad, briefed him on the history of the museum, the coin-making process, the tools employed in production and the significance of various categories of coins. The Governor took keen interest in the rare exhibits and vintage minting equipment on display.

He also viewed a documentary presentation depicting a century-long history of coin production in the country. Through a PowerPoint presentation, officials explained the restoration and redevelopment of the Saifabad Mint Museum, the collections displayed there, and the role and significance of India’s coin manufacturing institutions.
