Hyderabad, June 24 (RAHNUMA): Every student is like a sapling that, nurtured with love, education, discipline and good conduct, can grow into a mighty tree, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla said.
Addressing students at a free notebook distribution programme at Lok Bhavan Community Hall on Wednesday organised by Bharat Sevashram Sangh, the Governor stressed that “students’ future is the nation’s future.”
He urged them to scale the highest peaks in their chosen fields and bring laurels to their families, villages and the country.
Recalling that he had planted a sapling on the premises of Lok Bhavan Government School earlier in the day, the Governor drew a parallel.
“Just as a sapling needs daily watering and protection from harsh elements to become a mahavriksha, students too must be shielded from drugs and the ill effects of social media, and shaped through quality education,” he told teachers.
Shiv Pratap Shukla described Lok Bhavan school as more than an academic institution. “It is proof of Lok Bhavan’s resolve to provide quality education to children from marginalised sections of society,” he said.
Praising Bharat Sevashram Sangh as an embodiment of service, compassion and human values, the Governor said its motto, “Manava Seva Madhava Seva”, was an inspiration. He lauded its work in disaster relief, healthcare and education.
“The state government is working to make Telangana a hub for education and sports. Initiatives like ‘Young India Integrated Residential Schools’ will ensure equal opportunities for all,” he said.
Earlier in the day, the Governor visited Lok Bhavan Government High School, planted a sapling on the campus, and interacted with children at an anganwadi centre before distributing notebooks.
